Collections and Accreditation Fabulous Fashions at the Peel Museum The Peel Society are busy cataloguing their collections as part of their work towards applying for the Accreditation Standard. The museum, which is based at Middleton Hall near Tamworth, holds a wealth of material relating to the Peel Family and to the history of the police force in Staffordshire and beyond.

During a visit this week to discuss collections care and various subjects relating to accreditation the volunteers took out one of the boxes that has yet to be catalogued. This contained some amazing examples of men's clothing from the 18th century, including a silk coat and two beautiful hand embroidered waistcoats.

There is also a High Sheriff's uniform from the 20th century.

All the items belonged to members of the Peel family.

The next stage of the project is complete the catalogue records, photograph the items and then repack them in new acid free boxes.
